Help & Documentation
Everything you need to set up AudioZone.app, connect Spotify, configure your zones and control them remotely from your phone.
Getting started
AudioZone.app captures audio from Windows and routes it to your output zones. Before music can flow, you need to install the virtual audio driver and point your music app through it.
Install VB-Audio Cable
VB-Audio Cable creates a virtual audio device on your PC. AudioZone.app uses it to capture your music. Download it free from vb-audio.com/Cable, run the installer and restart Windows if prompted. The built-in setup wizard inside the app walks you through it step by step.
Route your music through CABLE Input
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Open Volume Mixer.
Find your music app (Spotify, Chrome, etc.) and change its output device to CABLE Input.
This sends the audio into AudioZone.app.
Select CABLE Output in AudioZone.app
In the CAPTURE selector at the top of the app, choose CABLE Output.
The spectrum visualizer will light up as soon as music is playing — that means audio is flowing correctly.
CABLE Input as the default output. Everything — Spotify, browser, any app — will flow through AudioZone.app automatically.
Zone setup
AudioZone.app supports up to 4 independent output zones. Each zone has its own name, audio device, volume and mute state — completely independent from the others.
Name your zones
Click the ⚙ gear icon on each zone card and type the name of that area: Bar, Terrace, Main Hall, VIP Room, Entrance… The name appears on the card and in the remote control.
Assign an output device
In the same ⚙ popup, select the audio output connected to that zone — for example, the USB audio adapter plugged into the amplifier for that room. Each zone must have a different device.
Set volume and mute
Use the volume slider on each zone card to set the base level. Click the mute button to instantly silence a zone — for example when it starts raining on the terrace.
🔌 One USB hub, 4 zones
A common setup: a USB hub with 4 cheap USB audio adapters (€5–10 each), one per zone. Each adapter connects to the amplifier for that area. Simple and reliable.
💾 Config saved automatically
Zone names, devices and volumes are saved every time you make a change and restored automatically when you open the app. Set it once and it stays.
AUX inputs
AudioZone.app includes 2 AUX inputs for microphones or any live audio source. Each can be independently routed to any combination of zones — perfect for venue announcements.
Connect your microphone
Plug a USB microphone or a USB audio interface with a mic connected into the PC. It will appear automatically in the AUX device selector.
Select the device
In the AUX 1 or AUX 2 panel at the bottom of AudioZone.app, choose the microphone or input device from the dropdown.
Route to zones
Click the zone buttons next to each AUX channel to enable routing to that zone. Active zones are highlighted. You can send an announcement to all zones at once or only to selected areas.
Spotify integration
Connect your Spotify account to see the current track, artist, album art and progress bar directly in AudioZone.app — and control playback without switching apps.
Click the Spotify button
In the top-right corner of AudioZone.app, click the green Spotify button. A browser window will open asking you to authorise the connection with your Spotify account.
Log in and authorise
Log in to your Spotify account and click Agree to grant AudioZone.app permission to read and control playback. The browser will confirm the connection and you can close it.
Now Playing panel
A panel appears below the header showing the current track, artist, album art and a progress bar. Use the ⏮ ▶ ⏭ buttons to skip tracks or play/pause without leaving the app.
🔄 Stays in sync
If you control playback from your phone or another device, the panel in AudioZone.app updates automatically within a few seconds.
⚠️ Spotify Premium recommended
Free Spotify accounts have limitations on playback control via API. Full skip/pause functionality works best with a Premium account.
Remote control
Control zone volumes and mutes from any phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi network — no app to install, just a web page that opens instantly when you scan a QR code.
Click ⚡ Remote in the header
A window appears showing a QR code and the local URL of the remote control page.
Scan the QR code
Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code. Your phone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer running AudioZone.app.
Control your zones
The remote shows all your zones with their names, volume sliders and mute buttons. Changes apply instantly. Multiple phones can connect at the same time.
Keep the dialog open
The remote server runs as long as the ⚡ Remote window is open in AudioZone.app. Close it to stop the server.
📶 Same Wi-Fi required
The remote works over your local network only. It does not work over mobile data or from outside the venue network.
💡 Bookmark the URL
After scanning once, bookmark the URL in your phone's browser. As long as the PC keeps the same local IP, you can open it directly next time.
Troubleshooting
The most common issues and how to fix them.
No audio reaching the zones
Make sure your music app is set to output to CABLE Input in the Windows Volume Mixer, and that CABLE Output is selected in the CAPTURE selector inside AudioZone.app. The spectrum visualizer should light up when music is playing.
CABLE Input doesn't appear in Volume Mixer
VB-Audio Cable may need a restart to finish installing. Restart Windows and open AudioZone.app again — it should detect the driver automatically.
Zone has no sound even though audio is flowing
Check that the zone has an output device assigned (click ⚙) and that it's not muted. Also verify the device is physically connected and Windows can see it.
Remote control page not loading on phone
Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer. The ⚡ Remote window must remain open in AudioZone.app while you use the remote.
Spotify panel not showing
Click the Spotify button in the header and complete the authorisation flow in the browser. If it was previously connected and stopped working, click Disconnect and reconnect.
